We are in an era when humanity is reeling from a global pandemic and artists and musicians are engaged in an epic battle for survival. The intensity of human emotion that is inherent in opera engages, immerses and stirs the souls of the audience. When an audience has the shared experience of a LIVE performance, it has a unifying effect on a community.

Ch’Opera is the less formal division of Charleston Opera Theater that encompasses many of our community events, performances, activities, education and outreach. Ch’Opera’s mission is two-fold. The first is to de-mystify the world of opera by exposing a larger cross section of the community to the art form and allowing access that will foster a new passion for it.
